History of SLIM Brand Week
2018 : A Successful Inauguration
Project Chair – Manthika RanasingheThe inaugural SLIM Brand Week in 2018 was a groundbreaking event, held at the BMICH in Colombo. Focused on the power of branding, it featured a series of masterclasses, keynote speeches, and discussions led by marketing luminaries. The success of this event paved the way for it to become an annual fixture on Sri Lanka's marketing calendar.
2019 : The Power of Branding
Project Chair: Nuwan ThilakawardhaneHeld at BMICH, the second edition of SLIM Brand Week featured industry heavyweights such as Ruchi Gunewardene, Hiran Cooray, Yasas Hewage, and Rohan Jayaweera. The five-day symposium addressed topics like brand value, service excellence, storytelling, and the role of big data in marketing. The "Sri Lanka Beyond 2020" CXO Forum sparked discussions on the future of brand building in the country, emphasizing collaboration and innovation.
2023: Exploring the Future of Brands
Project Chair: Asanka PereraIn 2023 SLIM Brand Week 2023 marked a new chapter as a National Event with a three-day symposium at Waters Edge. This event featured international and local experts such as Rory Sutherland, Sonam Wangchuck, Momita Sarker and Kumar Sangakkara who shared insights on branding, data-driven marketing, and innovation. This event transformed the scale of SLIM Brand Week. At this symposium, a masterclass was conducted for school children recognizing the importance of marketing education at school level.
2024: The Road to Transformation
Project Chair: Kevin AlmeidaSLIM Dialog Brand Week 2024 elevated the standards by a way of power packed sessions with over 20 speakers across multiple industries, including FMCG, IT, and tourism. The theme, ‘The Road to Transformation Begins Here,’ inspired participants to rethink branding strategies amid economic challenges. Networking events, hands-on workshops, and an exhibition area added value to the symposium, making it a truly transformative experience.
